“It begins with a character, usually, and once he stands up on his feet and begins to move, all I can do is trot along behind him with a paper and pencil trying to keep up long enough to put down what he says and does.”

no but i saw that john winchester list of “facts” on my dash again today and I just lost my shit… i am far too tired to deal with tumblr I guess, hahaha.

I have seen it at least 3 times, but I HAVEN’t reblogged it to argue bc I WAS TRYING TO BE NICE butals;kjdf;lkasdj AGAIN

sorry

Have you ever read the journal yet? If you ever get the chance, you really should, because all it does is make John even more unlikable and downright creepy. It’s great material to shoot back at John-apologists if they use examples from the journal as ‘proof’.

Is this real life, or is it John Winchester.

They included subplots like demons following them re: Sam, but that doesn’t particularly help make him any more sympathetic, especially when he’s still just an asshole all around.

Other wonderful gems:

"I tried to raise [Dean] right, and looks like I did. He’s a scam artist, a ladie’s man, and an absolutely loyal son… I’ve spent the last sixteen years afraid that I was going to screw him up somehow. Maybe now I can forget about that."

"[Sam] doesn’t know what his role is, even though I can tell him until I’m blue in the face and we’re both ready to kill each other."

"I’m the kind of father I have to be. I’m the kind of father who teaches his boys that no man or monster can kill their mother and get away with it. I’m the kind of father who shows them that when it comes to family, you go to the ends of the earth to put things right."

"Dean turns eleven today. He asked for his own gun, and I got him one. A Seecamp LWS .32 automatic, the smallest gun I could find that offered any kind of stopping power. Dean and I poured silver slugs for it ourselves, and we loaded it with alternating silver and Winchester hollow-points. He’s got it in his pocket now."

"Sammy is seven today. I think we’re going to get him through the first grade this year. He’s a smart little kid, but we’ve moved around so much that he’s a little behind in school… I need to be better about reading to him — stuff other than field manuals and weird newspaper headlines… I’d ask Dean to do it, but there’s only so much you can pile on a kid. Having Sammy’s life in his hands is enough for Dean; he can’t be responsible for home-schooling Sammy too. God. This is one more time I’m reminded how much I miss Mary."

DashCon: Separating Facts from Fiction – An Official Statement

This is a pretty undignified press release, and as you can see by quite a few comments, it’s not really making you seem all that transparent or like you’re accepting the fault in your managing skills. All I really see is “no, it was this other person’s fault! We tried to fix it!” or anything to that effect. There are no excuses for poor administration. Why didn’t you see these e-mails from the WTNV crew? Were you not up-to-date on checking your admin e-mails, which is arguably one of the few ways to get in contact with you? Did they not bring up that they e-mailed you before you went out and said they bailed? Was this e-mail only for 1 staff member, and if so, WHY WOULD YOU DO THAT? It seems every argument about your lack of communication stems from failure in electronics (you had no walkie talkies, relied on cell phones, didn’t answer messages, didn’t follow-up on your own e-mail, the list goes on), or your failure in making sure you were all included on important con staff e-mails.

Bottom line, you guys were extremely unprepared and less than professional, and it led to people blaming WTNV (yourselves included, judging from the video, though thank you for clearing them of blame) over them “just walking out”. You need to own up instead of repeatedly trying to cover your ass and say it was everyone but you for all of these points, because they were still YOU functioning AS A WHOLE, and it was shoddy work all around. As for the WTNV refunds… it says right there that you’re able to change the rules whenever you’d like. The truth you don’t want to readily admit is that you don’t want to give anyone back their money - you COULD do the considerably professional and truth-building task of refunding their tickets (someone paid for something and did not receive ANYTHING for that payment, it’s common sense practice to refund something they didn’t at all recieve) - but no. You want that money because you didn’t properly prepare to finance this convention (which was done in such an unprofessional way, which is a large portion of why people lost faith immediately in your explanations), AND you are keeping WTNV’s money as well. You have literally no reason not to refund; you want the $$$. Nice cover, though.

I’m just floored by the level of “it wasn’t us, it was them!!” going on - from the hotel payments to WTNV to the committee’s slandering to the damn **ball pit**, you are finding excuses for yourself instead of admitting you all completely blew it and failed management completely. I was hoping for an apology and an admittance without any if’s or but’s. Throwing the other now-gone staff members under a bus doesn’t mean you’re all suddenly blameless martyrs for your convention. You are businesspeople the moment you’re given that lump of cash. Act like it.

I am not excited for your work in 2015, that’s to be sure.

Good freaking luck.

hot damn girl.

Wait doesn’t your consumer laws protect you against this sort of thing? It doesn’t matter what the terms and conditions were. If a reasonable person would not have paid for the Tickets if they knew what the service would be like before they had gone to the event then everyone should be able to get their money back. Seriously everyone who is upset about this should look into their consumer laws right now!

A mighty fine point. My extent of knowledge is that most websites with tickets on sale will refund them for a cancelled show - and that there are places in the UK with laws that entitle buyers to their money back for cancelled shows as well. I encourage anyone who knows the law for refunds and consumer laws to give better examples, and if you feel like going after your money that the convention decided to keep, definitely check out the laws (in Illinois, I imagine?).

What an icky mess of poor consumer service we have here.
